Weekend Roundup: July 15th – July 17th
-I went to the Twins game on Friday. It was great to see the ceremony the Twins organization gave for Bert Blyleven, who is just as god at entertaining a crowd as he was at pitching.
-The Twins won the game also, so that was nice to see. Anyway was Justin Morneau departed to Canada? Also Justin, just a word of advice: Drinking all that pop from McDonalds isn’t healthy for you. You should cut back and probably change your work out partner from a bear to a HUMAN!!
- Ok but seriously, will Justin ever play baseball again? And for that matter, in a Twins uniform? Also will he even be good? Morneau you have more questions to answer.
-How much longer till we trade Kevin Slowey?
-When news came about that Don Nelson might be the new T-Wolves coach, the scoreboard at Target Center exploded.
-Personally speaking, I would like it best if Rick Adelman became the new T-Wolves coach. That said, if Nelson did become the coach, the team would be very entertaining to watch.
-Things to do to piss off WNBA Fans: When you see someone wearing a Sue Bird jersey, ask them where they got that Larry Bird Jersey.
-As much as it would have been nice to see the US Women win the World Cup, it is probably much more meaningful for Japan to win it when you consider everything the country has been through in the past 6 months. Hopefully it helps uplift their spirits and all that good stuff. Congrats Japan.
-Word is the NFL lockout is almost done. Yippee!!!!
-Word is the NBA lockout is nowhere near making progress towards a solution. F#$k!!!!!
- Everything about the WWE Pay Per View “Money in the Bank” is what makes wrestling awesome. When done correctly there is nothing better or more entertaining. When you combine the out of this world athleticism of real sports and the drama and storytelling of good TV and Movies, wrestling is an entertainment art form that can truly captivate an audience. And “Money in the Bank” did exactly just that. It suspended disbelief and intrigued the masses. So much in fact, leading up to the show CM Punk was interviewed by GQ magazine! When was the last time GQ interviewed a professional wrestler? How about, um, NEVER! And on top of that the show didn’t disappoint. One of the best WWE PPV ever!!
-And if you still don’t believe me wrestling is beginning to garner national attention and mass appeal, after winning the WWE Championship, CM Punk is currently the front-page story on TMZ.com.
-And I think I will end this weeks Weekend Round on that nerdtastic and geeky note.
