| For the first time ever I watched more minutes of sports played by the female gender than the male gender. And no, I am not counting the Lingerie Football league. |
•I am utterly convinced soccer, no matter what kind or what level, has the worst refs imaginable. I swear, soccer refs make Jim Joyce look like a saint when it comes to officiating.
•If someone asked me what sports I watched over the weekend I’d say: The Twins game on Sunday. The Lynx game on Saturday and the USA Women’s world cup game on Sunday. That is correct – for the first time EVER in my life I viewed more minutes of female sports than I did male sports. And no I didn’t want to blow my brain outs in case you wondering – God forbid someone enjoys a sports played by women! And I am not counting the Lingerie Football League, which, might I add is more pleasurable than enjoyable, if you catch my drift.
•Ok but seriously, dang that Maya Moore is good. I know she statistically isn’t the best player on the Lynx team, but when she is the game the team is must watch. They are faster and more intense. She is the sole reason why I watch the Lynx. Also I think the rumors she beat Kemba Walker 1 on 1 in college at UCon might be true, just saying.
•It also nice to see hometown hero Lindsay Whalen dish it up and make some sick reverse layups. Side note: couldn’t they do a layup contest for the WNBA All – Star game?
•Male or female, no matter the sport- yesterdays world cup game with Brazil vs. USA was some the most dramatic and intense filled minutes in sports ever!
•Even professional wrestling referees were shaking their heads in disgust at the women calling the USA-Brazil match.
•Congrats to Michael Cuddyer for making the All-Star Game. To the casual mainstream fan you’ll be this year’s “who the eff is that player?” You’ll become some kids Randy Wynn (He was my first ‘”who the eff is that player”). Not but seriously, congrats on making it, you deserve it.
•Is Ben Revere eligible for ROY? If so he could be a likely candidate. And while I hope he wins, lets hope he doesn’t turn out to be like the last Twins OF to win ROY- Marty ‘ I am always Injured’ Cordova.
•Wake me up when the NFL or NBA lockouts are over!!!!!!
•I was saddened by the news of Yao Ming retiring. The greatest thing his career taught me was the power and sheer mass of the Chinese population. Economic people point towards there growing economy and stuff – idiotic sports fans like myself, point towards a dude who made 8 all-star games when he barley played in any regular season games!
•No but seriously, his global dominance on the game was huge and when he was healthy he was a forced to be reckoned with. That being said the best way I can describe his career is through a statement comedian and TV writer Andrew Goldtein made: “Yao Ming's 9 year career was like an order of Chinese Food: F*cking amazing at first followed by a series of crippling side effects.”
Anyway that is all for this week’s weekend round up.
