My Top 10 List of things I have learned after my first 1 and half weeks on Senior Project

Because I am attending Ball State University in the fall for college, in honor of Ball State’s most famous alum David Letterman, I present to you “My top 10 list of things I have learned after my first 1 and half weeks on senior project.”

1. Don’t mess with my super visor Cortney Storsved. Today at work I found out some deadbeat one man ticket broker named Rob in Ohio has been avoiding paying Ticket King 800$ since April 7th. Well today Cortney has been on a mission to get that money like Navy Seal Team 6 was on a mission to get Osama. Anyways, when Cortney finally reached him on a different phone line, he hung up faster than a kid who runs out of the kitchen after he has been caught sticking his hand in the cookie jar. Even so, Cortney still hasn’t given up. If Cortney had a theme song for today it would be “Ready or Not” by The Fugees.

2. The Ellen show is rather entertaining. You, see everyday at work when I show up at 9 that is what is being played on the TV in the office from 9-10 in the morning. Being a dude, I thought it would torture having to watch a total of 28 episodes of Ellen over the four weeks while I am here at Ticket King. But you know what? She ain’t that bad and her style of humor has grown on him. That being said, don’t expect me to watch Ellen after this at my house. After my last post where I talked about wanting to watch the Lynx and now saying I like Ellen, I am pretty sure I have scared the crap out of my dad who probably now thinks he needs to take me to a shrink.

3. Bloging is really difficult. With the amount of blogs I have, it has been rather difficult making sure I am reaching my total all the while making sure I am reaching that total with quality writing. It has been a learning experience making sure the quantity of blog posts doesn’t derail the quality of the blog posts. (And yes, I realize my first three posts on my personal blog stunk.)

4. The Ticket game is a messy business. The inside world of the Ticket game is so messy that I have been told I cannot even mention anything more about it because currently Ticket King is in a battle of some sorts over things I cannot talk about with one of ‘the powers that be’.(‘the powers that be’ is an alias for one of the services Ticket King is currently skirmishing with)

5. The food the military gets is good. Thank god for that, I am very happy the tax money we pay goes towards feeding our men and women overseas with adequate food, and dare I say futuristic. Now you are probably wondering how I know this and what makes so futuristic? Well you see, my other supervisor Kristie is married to a former soldier. And her husband, I guess has extra packets of food soldiers are given when they go out to the battlefield or something like that,( I forgot some of the minor details). Anyway the other day, Kristie brought one of them with her to work the other day for. All that she did was poor some water into this bag, and then some smoke started coming out as it got really hot, and then her lunch of spaghetti and meatballs was ready. After doing some research, I found out that bag is called an MRE, which stands for Meal ready to eat. They are pretty nifty if you ask me, and I am glad those overseas have good food to eat.

6. That public transportation in Minnesota isn’t that bad. Honestly the bus has been pretty awesome. It is really nifty, and gets you to places on time. I think the main reason why Minnesota public transportation, like buses, gets such a bad wrap is because there isn’t a central meeting ground, the bus stops are rather sporadic, they interfere with traffic and you have to look up the information on your own. And in today’s age where information is basically handed over to people that just doesn’t work. Take for example Chicago and Washington DC, while Chicago and DC don’t use buses, they use subways and other things, route information is there for you at every stop in an organized fashion. With the buses in Minnesota everything is online and you have to find it on your own. I think if Minnesota public transportation put up maps of some sorts at every bus stop, or made it easier for people to find the information, public transportation wouldn’t have the negative stigma it does in Minnesota.

7. Just because you write something you like, doesn’t mean it will get page views. My favorite blog post I have written has gotten the least amount of views out of any the 40+ blog posts I have written. It has been a tough pill to swallow, but when you are not an established powerhouse sports website, such as ESPN where people go to your website for you’re your content, blogs like myself get page views thanks to Google and key words. I firmly believe people don’t go to our blogs (some do, not a lot though), they just stumble upon them and then hopefully they come back for more after reading it. Hence the reason why the blog post, ‘Goldy Gopher’s letter to Ralph Sampson III’ has the least amount of views, because no one is typing in ‘Ralph Sampson III and Goldy Gopher’ on Google. But hey, if you want to read it and get the page views up, check out the link here: http://goldengophers.blogspot.com/2011/05/goldy-gophers-letter-to-ralph-sampson.html

8. David Kahn is awesome., because he is doing what I always wanted to do if I ever became a NBA GM: see if the perfect video game line basketball line up would work in real life. I know it is not working so far, but what he has done is what I always do when I am playing a basketball video game. Start a bunch of athletic swing man, and have a power foreword with three point range and a point guard that passes the ball. I love it! And now that we can draft Derrick Williams with he second overall pick that is even better. Read more about on my T-Wolves blog, shown the sidebar to the right (which also shows all the Minnesota sports oriented blogs I post in. And if you are wondering everything written since May 9th has been done by me on all those blogs.). Last but not least, Kahn is just awesome, a lot of people hate him and think he is a deranged mad scientist that has no idea what he is doing. But me, I love David Kahn and think he is mad scientist that knows EXACTLY what he is doing. He also makes awesome quotes, and I couldn’t agree more with what he said about the Gilbert kid and the draft being rigged. And if you think his quote was out of line, get a sense of humor and wake up: THE NBA DRAFT LOTTERY IS FIXED. IT IS PRE-DETERMINED LIKE A PRO WRESTLING MATCH!!!

9. The Merriam park library has no idea how to categorize music. Now I don’t want to get in trouble and tell people how to do their job or anything, but most of the time when I am volunteering at the Merriam Park library I am organizing there music CD’s and putting them back. Overall the organization is fine and dandy, but the categorization is not. Get this: the Spice Girl’s Spice World CD is categorized as rock. Meanwhile, the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper” CD is categorized as pop. Yeah, and meanwhile, I am categorized as being a freakishly athletic tall high school basketball player that goes to Oak Hill Academy. Let’s get the facts straight: Spice Girls are pop. The Beatles are rock. And I am anything but a freakishly athletic tall high school basketball player that goes to Oak Hill Academy.

10. ESPN insider is awesome. Whoever use to have this computer, must have been signed up for ESPN insider, and forgot to sign out of his ESPN account. Whoever you are, thanks for letting me use ESPN insider. I have never used it before, but when it comes towards finding information to write about it in a blog it is mighty helpful. Also the information is just cool in general. Anyway, at least for four weeks I get a free trial of ESPN Insider. But after my internship I don’t plan on buying it because it because it is just too expensive. Nonetheless thanks for not logging ou whoever use to have this computer. Also I promise not to mess with your fantasy baseball team, it is doing pretty well.
